On Sunday, three members of Newport & District Running Club took on races at the Shrewsbury 5k & 10k. Starting and finishing in The Quarry, the 10k route takes runners initially on a lap of the town centre and crossing the Welsh Bridge, before doing an anti-clockwise loop around the outside of the River Severn, passing through suburbs such as Frankwell, Copthorne and Coleham, before crossing over the English Bridge on their way to the finish line.

Featuring over 110 metres of elevation gain spread over a number of hills across the route, the 10k course is a tough one, and Alex Millington ran a strong race to take 7th place overall, in a field of over 1,200 runners, in a rapid time of 34 minutes, 26 seconds. David also ran well, and managed to beat the 50-minute mark, taking 332nd place with his time of 49:15. Ash Moore was the sole NDRC entrant in the 5k, and took 2nd place overall and first male runner, with his time of 17:44.
