On Sunday, Newport & District Running Club’s Frances Galvin took part in the Sanlam Coast Half Marathon. This scenic seaside race takes in part of the North Wales coastline, featuring the start and finish both at Prestatyn Nova, with a visit to Rhyl at halfway. After completing the race, Frances sent us a few words about her experience at the race:

“After a short inland loop, it was an out-and-back to Rhyl from Prestatyn, running along the seafront with beautiful views of the beach and sea in the sunshine, and the Welsh coastline. There was even a rainbow in the distance at one point! It was tough going on the way out running into the wind, but this meant on the return leg, with the wind behind me, I was flying home and finished in a (faster than hoped for) 2 hours, 15 minutes 35 seconds. The event was fairly small but would definitely be a good choice for a PB attempt as it was lovely and flat, although you may never look at the sea in the same way again!”
