On Sunday, Alex Cochrane was the sole runner from Newport & District Running Club to take on the Whitchurch 10k, a local road race around Shropshire’s most northerly town. The race starts and finishes at St. John Talbot’s school, and takes in an anti-clockwise lap of the town, on a spectator-friendly route which allows for supporters to move easily from one viewing point to another, and runners to see each other at different points of the race.

Alex was part of a field of 448 runners, and conquered the hilly course in 44 minutes, 43 seconds, which secured him 54th position overall. Alex was running in the under-21 male age category, and his performance was good enough for an impressive 5th place in the category.
