On Sunday, Newport & District Running Club’s Alex Cochrane and his uncle, David Evans, took on the Penkridge 10k. For Alex, it was his first race back since the “Phoenix Flyer” in May, having picked up an injury. After the recent heatwave, the weather was cooler on race day, allowing for a more comfortable race experience!

Starting and finishing at Penkridge Middle School, the route takes in a lap of the town centre, before leaving the town to the northeast via Teddesley Road towards Acton Trussell. The second half of the race saw a repeat of the first half, but in reverse, as they retraced their steps back to the start.

Alex ran a time of 42 minutes, 59 seconds and finished in 108th place, whilst David clocked a time of 47:11 which put him in 210th place. David said that the course had ups and downs, and both runners found it to be a good course but hard going.
