On Sunday, two members of Newport & District Running Club’s made the trip up the A41 to Chester to take on the city’s Half Marathon. This is the second in a series of three races in the city, the 10k having taken place earlier in the year, and the Marathon taking place in October. Runners who complete all three races get a special medal.

Starting and finishing at Chester Racecourse (as most races in Chester do!), the route takes runners on an out-and back “lollipop” style route to the northwest of the city, taking in a tour of the city centre, as well as a loop around the villages of Saughall and Mollington, before returning back to the city centre for the race finish. Generally, the course is flat(ish) apart from the last mile, which is uphill.

David Evans was really pleased to finish 1,413th and get a time of 1 hour, 45 minutes, 20 seconds, which he said was much better than his Stafford Half Marathon time! David’s clubmate Edward Roper also completed the race, taking 6,390th place in a time of 2:30:08, despite having completed a 50k race the day before!
