On Thursday, the “Spring Treble” series continued, with this week’s race on Cannock Chase. Taking runners up and over the hills between Marquis Drive and Birches Valley, the route features around 150 metres of elevation change, and takes runners on a scenic tour of The Chase, including passing by Fair Oak and Stony Brook Pools. In a field of 98 participants, Newport & District Running Club were represented by four runners.

David Brown was the first finisher for NDRC, taking 36th position overall with a time of 34 minutes, 23 seconds. He was followed by Peter Johnstone, who finished 54th in a time of 37:20, just ahead of Graham Rogers, who was 58th with his time of 37:46. Selwyn Plant completed the quartet, his time of 50:29 securing 94th place overall.
