Last Wednesday night saw the start of Telford AC’s “Sexarathon” series, a popular 6-race series which takes place on Wednesday evenings from April to September. The race distances vary, from 5 kilometres to 5 miles, and people can enter either the whole series or individual races as they wish.

The first race each year traditionally takes place at Lilleshall Sport Centre, and is 5 miles long, taking runners down the long drive towards Newport, before doing an anti-clockwise loop around Pitchcroft Lane and Pave Lane, then heading back up the drive to the finish. As ever, the series has a lot of entrants from Newport & District Running Club this year.

In a field of 436 runners, Alex Cochrane was NDRC’s first finisher in 48th place with a time of 31 minutes, 12 seconds, closely followed by Harry Wilmot, who was 51st in a time of 31:21. Robin Guy was in hot pursuit, taking 52nd place in 31:25, as was Darren Waters, who clocked 31:36 in 56th place. Alex Millington finished 72nd with his time of 32:15, whilst David Brown ran a time of 33:39 in 89th place.
