After the heatwave on Monday and Tuesday, 29 members of Newport & District Running Club were amongst a field of runners who were very glad that the temperature abated somewhat for Wednesday evening, as they took on the Ironbridge 4, a 4-mile race which serves as the 5th of 6 Sexarathon races in Telford AC’s popular local series.

Starting just on the south side of the river, near the Iron Bridge itself, the route takes runners east through Jackfield, before crossing the river to Coalport and continuing down the High Street towards Coalport Bridge, which runners cross to bring them back to the south side of the river. From there, it’s a straight-ish slog back to the finish, which is near the starting area, almost exclusively along the Severn Valley Way.

In 28th position overall, David Clarke was the first Novaportan runner to finish, clocking a time of 24 minutes, 5 seconds.
