Last weekend, four members of Newport & District Running Club took on the Beckbury Trail, a local 10k off-road race organised by Lawley Running Club. Starting and finishing in Beckbury itself, the route takes runners south along tracks and through fields near Higford and Ackleton, before winding its way back north through Badger on the way back to the finish.
257 people took part overall, and Darren Waters was the first NDRC runner to complete the course, finishing in 18th position with a time of 45 minutes, 51 seconds. Selwyn Plant finished in 139th position in 1:00:53, not too far ahead of Bernie Holbrook, who was 154th in 1:03:26, and Jennie Waters, who clocked a time of 1:04:57 for 164th place.
The runners were complimentary about the course and the weather, as they were greeted by a chilly but sunny November morning, ideal for running.
