On Sunday, eight members of Newport & District Running Club took on the Beckbury Trail 10k, a mostly off-road race taking place in and around the village of Beckbury, in eastern Shropshire. Featuring around 200m of elevation changes, this tough course starts and finishes on Higford Lane in Beckbury, taking in roads, fields and tracks around Stableford, Ackleton and Badger along the way.

Graham Rogers, in 99th position overall, was the first Novaportan runner back, clocking an overall time of 56 minutes, 16 seconds. Amanda Purves was just behind him, taking 100th place in a time of 56:37 to be NDRC’s leading female finisher. In 135th position was Jo Lutner, clocking a time of 1:00:17, whilst husband and wife Darren (147th) and Jennie (148th) Waters both finished with a time of 1:01:59. Selwyn Plant was next, 150th in 1:02:17, just ahead of Karen Sherriff, who was 153rd in 1:02:52. Ralph Humphries took 159th position in a time of 1:03:39.

Those who took part were very complimentary of the course, and this race is always popular with local runners, no doubt our members will be back for another go next year!
