Membership

Welcome to Newport & District Running Club. Please read the information below about our membership types and fees before proceeding.

 

Please note that we are based in Newport, Telford and Wrekin (Shropshire), UK. We are aware that we are just one of many Newports, so if you live in South Wales, on the Isle of Wight, or even further afield, we might not be the Newport you were looking for!

 

Newport & District Running Club is affiliated to England Athletics (EA). EA is the governing body for athletics in England. Details can be found on the EA website.

 

Most club members are also personally affiliated to EA, through the club. Amongst other benefits, this allows members to enter events, taking advantage of the EA Affiliated rate, typically £2 less than the standard rate. 

 

• First claim: this is the standard membership for the club. A member is affiliated to EA through the club. The first claim membership fee is £27 (£20 for age 65+).
• Second claim: this is where a member is not affiliated to EA through the club because they are also a member of another (first claim) club. The second claim membership fee is £10.
• Non-affiliated: this is where a member is not affiliated to EA through the club. The non-affiliated membership fee is £10.

The EA registration year starts on 1 April and ends on 31 March the following year.

 

The athlete registration fee is £20.

 

 

Every EA affiliated member is allocated a URN. This number is important as it is used to register for events, and also identifies members on the EA website. Members should periodically log on to the EA website to check their details.

 

 

Where a member joins the club for part of a year, the EA registration fee for a full year is still payable – there is no pro-rata calculation. Therefore, it is not possible to reduce the club fee in these cases. When considering joining the club for the first time, it may be worth considering waiting for the next year if there is only a short period left.

 

 

The club membership year starts at the same time as the EA year (1 April).
