On Sunday, two members of Newport & District Running Club made the short trip to Stafford to take part in the Walton Winter Wobble 10k. Starting and finishing at Walton High School, the route follows a tough out-and-back course, much of which is on Cannock Chase, and features a lot of undulation, including a mile-long hill.

Runners set off from the school, running the length of Brocton/Walton Lane to the village of Brocton, before climbing onto the Chase and turning around at Brocton Field after 5k. Returning the way they came, the biggest climb occurs as they leave Brocton for the final time. In a field of 253 runners, Alex Cochrane was 14th to finish overall in a time of 40 minutes, 37 seconds, while his uncle, David Evans, was 79th with a time of 51:06.
