On Sunday, six members of Newport & District Running Club took on the Beckbury Trail 10k, a tough, undulating trail race set in the countryside between the villages of Beckbury, Badger and Higford in the Shropshire countryside. Featuring around 175 metres of climbing, and taking place on difficult, low grip surfaces, this race tests runners as much as any other local 10k race.

This year there were 309 finishers, and Alex Millington was 14th overall, and the first NDRC finisher, with his time of 44 minutes, 1 second. Alex Cochrane wasn’t too far back, taking 20th place overall in a time of 45:24, while his uncle, David Evans, ran a time of 55:18 to finish 96th. Helen Mason took 181st position with her time of 1:03:39, whilst Phil Dolding finished 207th in 1:05:45, and Selwyn Plant took 212th place in a time of 1:06:42.
