Recently, Newport & District Running Club’s Alex Cochrane was the winner of the Cosford Spitfire Virtual 10k. The “Spitfire” 10k is a long-running event that has been held in-person at RAF Cosford, but this year, the race was unable to go ahead as in-person event so the organisers decided to hold the race as a “virtual” event instead, allowing runners to send in their own times that they have either timed themselves, or run at another race.

Alex used his time from the Hinstock 10k, which took place earlier in September, and his time of 38 minutes, 10 seconds was enough to secure the overall victory! Almost 500 runners took part, with money raised going to the RAF museum, helping them to continue to tell the inspiring stories of RAF personnel.
