On Sunday, uncle and nephew team David Evans and Alex Cochrane travelled up the A41 to Chester to take part in the annual marathon (David) and metric marathon (Alex). Starting and finishing at Chester racecourse, both races share part of the same course, with the full marathon taking runners on an anti-clockwise lap of Chester and the countryside to the southwest of the city, and the metric marathon running backwards along the marathon course, before taking a u-turn to join the marathoners in an out-and-back configuration.

David was pleased to break the four-hour mark on the full marathon, taking 2,342nd position out of a total of almost 7,000 runners in a time of 3 hours, 59 minutes, 44 seconds. Alex was taking on his longest distance yet in the metric marathon (26.2 km), and finished with a time of 2:04:12, 85th overall and 25th in his age group, out of a total of 1,441 runners.
