Last Wednesday, seven members of Newport & District Running Club took part in the “Ellerdine Effort” a 5k evening race which takes place on a fast, flat, anti-clockwise course on the roads between Ellerdine and Cold Hatton. This is a course with great PB potential, and the weather on the evening brought pleasant running conditions.

Darren Hesbrook-Edwards was the first Novaportan across the line, taking 59th place in a time of 20 minutes, 9 seconds. David Evans was next, 77th overall in a time of 21:53, whilst Philip Hill completed the course in 23:52 for 97th spot. Ralph Humphries took 127th place with his time of 27:06, followed by Matthew Humphries, who was 136th in 29:18. Donna Hesbrook-Edwards stopped the clock at 33:38 in 147th place, closely followed by Tracy Hartridge, who was 150th overall in 36:32.
