Last Wednesday, Newport & District RC was well represented at the third race in Telford AC’s Sexarathon series, the Shropshire 4 Miler. Taking place at the Granville Country Park, next to the Shropshire Golf Centre, the undulating route starts on Granville road, before taking in two and a half laps of a loop around the country park itself, finishing at the golf course.
18th Alex Millington was the first Novaportan to finish, taking 18th position overall in a time of 23 minutes, 5 seconds. In 44th place was Harry Wilmot with a time of 24:44, just ahead of Alex Cochrane, who was 46th in 24:51. Robin Guy was 48th overall, and 2nd in his age category, with his time of 25:12, whilst Adam Higgins finished 110th in 27:24 and Pete Johnstone was 133rd in 28:26.
Andrew Wilmot crossed the line in 152nd in a time of 29:19, closely followed by David Evans, who was 153rd in 29:28, and Phil Dolding, who clocked a time of 29:43 in 164th place.Graham Rogers finished 172nd in 30:11, whilst David Thomas finished 177th with his time of 30:30. Philip Link ran a time of 31:30 to finish 202nd, followed by Oliver Stokes, who was 231st in 32:47, and Amy Hughes, who was NDRC’s first female finisher in 252nd, with her time of 33:49.
Helen Mason clocked 34:39 in finishing 267th, whilst Phil Hardy was 272nd in 34:46.Elly Blake finished 286th with her time of 35:39 , followed by Maff Wellman, who ran a time of 38:16 in 314th. Selwyn Plant, was next, whose time of 38:21 secured him 315th spot, and Simon Taylor followed, 318th in 38:22. 348th Matthew Humphries ran a time of 43:41 to finish 348th, just ahead of his dad 352nd Ralph Humphries, who was 352nd in 44:28, and Tracy Hartridge, who clocked a time of 45:22 in 254th position. John Stokes volunteered as a sweeper, so completed the course with no credited time.
