Last Thursday, three members of Newport & District Running Club continued their participation in this year’s Spring Treble series, with the second race of three, the “Marquis Mayhem”, another tough 5-mile race which takes place on the trails of Cannock Chase.
Starting and finishing on the trail immediately north of Marquis Drive itself, the route takes runners on a tour of the tracks and trails between Marquis Drive and Birches Valley, utilising paths such as the Cross Chase Walk and passing by Fairoak Pools.
Graham Rogers, as he was at Kibblestone, was first for NDRC, taking 63rd place overall in a time of 37 minutes, 54 seconds. Ralph Humphries was next, 97th overall with his time of 45:27, just ahead of Selwyn Plant, who clocked a time of 47:24 in 104th position.
