On Sunday, two members of Newport & District Running Club made the short trip up the A41 to take part in the Whitchurch 10k, an annual road race which starts and finishes at St. John Talbot’s school, which is situated at the south end of the town. The 1-lap anti-clockwise route takes runners on a thorough tour of the town itself, with a mostly flat route, although a few short hills are thrown in for good measure.

The sun decided to break through for this event, and in warm conditions, Matthew Walley was the first Novaportan runner to finish, taking 54th place overall, in a field of almost 500 runners, with a time of 43 minutes, 1 second. Clubmate David Evans was hot on Matthew’s heels, and took 109th position with his time of 48:06.
