Last Sunday, 16th February, Newport & District Running Club’s Pete Johnstone ran the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon. Afterwards, he sent us this report of how he got on!
For any club members who are looking for a possible PB this is a good course, and mostly flat – there are some gentle climbs and descents but nothing you would call a significant hill. Definite PB potential in the right conditions.

However, this year the forecast for 09:30 was 3 degrees and with a breeze that would make it feel like -4 degrees. It was really very cold, and the first time I can remember starting a half marathon in gloves, which stayed on for 7 miles.

When running into the wind it was quite hard going but the course was still pretty quick. I finished 601st and my chip time was 1:34:46 (the last time I did a half marathon quicker than this was 2007!).
