On Sunday, Ralph Humphries of Newport & District Running Club took part in the Rugeley 10 Miler, an annual road race which takes place in mid-February every year, having first ran in 2016. The route starts and finishes in the south end of Rugeley itself, taking runners on an anti-clockwise lap which passes through Brereton, Longdon, Upper Longdon and Longdon Green, before taking in a big climb up towards Stile Cop in the final quarter of the race.

Ralph finished the race overall in 235th place out of a total of 280 runners, clocking a time of 1 hour, 42 minutes, 17 seconds. He said afterwards that it was a “Great race with plenty of steep hills, wet country lanes, started in sleet and it was cold!”
