On Friday, Newport & District Running Club’s David Evans scored a podium finish at the Darwin Half Marathon in Shrewsbury. Not your average half marathon road race, this particular event takes place on the cycle track at Shrewsbury Sports Centre. Measuring in at just less than 1 kilometre per lap, this means that competitors have to complete a whopping 21 and a half laps during the race!

The race was held as part of the Charles Darwin Day celebrations in the county town, and alongside the half, there were also 5k, 10k and full marathon races also taking place. David was amongst 14 runners taking on the half marathon distance, and he clocked an impressive time of 1 hour, 48 minutes, 28 seconds to finish third overall.
