Last weekend, four members of Newport & District Running Club made the trip up the A41 to take part in the Chester Marathon and Metric Marathon, both of which take place on the same day and share part of the same course. Starting and finishing near Chester Racecourse, the marathon takes runners on an anti-clockwise loop of the city and the countryside to the south, whilst the metric marathon (measuring 26.2km) is an out-and-back course which follows the marathon route backwards, before u-turning and joining the marathon runners for the final half of the race.

Annabel Bolton took on the full marathon, finishing in a time of 5 hours, 30 seconds, taking 3,952nd place overall in a field of over 4,500 runners. Having also taken part in the Chester 10k and Half Marathons earlier in the year, Annabel completed the Chester Triple Medal.
