Last weekend, Newport & District Running Club’s Helen Mason headed east to take on the “Robin Hood” Nottingham Half Marathon. Starting and finishing at the Victoria Embankment Recreation Ground, to the south of the city centre, the undulating route take participants on an anti-clockwise tour of the city, and the suburbs to the west of the city centre, passing landmarks such as Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall, and a number of parks throughout the city.

On a cool, dry day, Helen was pleased to hit her goal of a sub-2 hour time, in what was her fourth and final half marathon of this year, taking 3,914th position out of nearly 8,000 runners, with a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes, 2 seconds, and she remarked afterwards on how well the route was supported, particularly by local students!
