On her first competitive race back after receiving a new hip, 80-84 year age group triathlete, Hilary Stevenson, of Newport & District Running Club, was in action at the Southport Triathlon race last Sunday. Hilary took on the “sprint” distance, which is made up of a 750 metre swim, a 20 kilometre cycle, and a 5 kilometre run.

She beat her predicted times in all three disciplines, despite falling off her bike, and qualified for the World Triathlon Championships at Wollongong, Australia in 2025 as a GB team member! Her final times were: Swim: 25 minutes 53 seconds, Bike: 53:20, Run: 51:58 for a total time of 2:23:10 including transitions. We can’t wait to see how Hilary does when she competes for Team GB at the World Championships next year!
