Saturday the 6th of April saw the Shropshire Way 80k Festival with a choice of four distances. The weather was perfect for the majority of the day, however those who took part in the 80k run had rain from around 7.30pm if they had not already finished.
All courses were challenging with mixed terrain and plenty of elevation as the Shropshire Hills are a key feature of the festival. Added to this the huge amount of rain that has fallen in 2024 made conditions underfoot somewhat challenging for much of the race.
In the Half Mammothon (13 miles) Adam Baker completed in 3 hours 29 minutes. Verity Dodd and Rodney Jones completed the Mammothon (26 miles) in 8 hours 45 minutes.

Taking on the full 80k (50 miles), James McCaughern, Darren Waters, Annabel Bolton and Jennie Waters (pictured) set off nice and early at 7.00am. James unfortunately did not finish due to illness part way round the course. Darren (51st) and Jennie (49th) came in with a time of 14 hours 4 minutes, slightly ahead of Annabel, who finished in 14 hours 5 minutes (52nd). In total there were 221 entries with 24 hours given to complete.
