On Sunday, Newport & District Running Club’s Mandy Purves took on the Nantwich 10k, a road race which was in its second year, and which utilises the roads to the west of the town in an out-and-back lollipop style course. A field of over 1,200 runners took to the roads of Cheshire and attacked the 50+ metres of elevation gain that the route threw at them.

Despite admitting not generally being a fan of road running, Mandy won her age category in a time of 49 minutes, 4 seconds, finishing 296th overall. She said afterwards: “Although I don’t like road, this route was well signed, marshalled and supported. The run village was well signed with plenty of toilets.”
