On Sunday, Chetwynd Park played host to a 5k fun run and a winter walk, as well as a 1k fun run for under 12s. Newport & District Running Club’s Alex Cochrane took part in the 5k, which took place on a cross-country style course around Chetwynd Deer Park, and the late-February sunshine made for an ideal day for running.

Alex put in a strong performance to finish 2nd overall in a time of 22 minutes, 33 seconds and therefore registered a podium finish. As it wasn’t an official race, there were no numbers or chip timing, but the setting and atmosphere made for a fantastic event which was hopefully enjoyed by everyone who took part!
