On Saturday 17th February, David Evans of Newport & District Running Club took part in the 9-mile race at the Winter Railway Ultra, a collection of races that take place on the former railway line between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. Also on offer were races of varying distances: 19 miles, 28 miles, half and full marathons, and an ultramarathon.
Based at Coalport, the route utilised out-and-back “laps” of the former railway footpath, with all of the races taking place at the same time, in the same space. David was one of 13 runners taking part in the 9-mile distance, and managed a podium finish, taking 3rd place overall in a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, 17 seconds.
