Last Sunday was a beautiful day for a run, and luckily, the good weather coincided with the Walton Winter Wobble, an annual 10k race which takes place in Walton-on-the-hill, just east of Stafford. This out-and-back 10k race starts and finishes in Walton itself, and takes runners through Brocton village before climbing up on to Cannock Chase towards the turnaround point, where the hills are!

This year also saw the running of a 5k race alongside the 10k race – as this race missed the majority of the hills on the 10k route, it was named the “hill-dodger” 5k. Newport & District RC runners came third in both races, with Alex Millington taking third overall in the 10k, with a time of 38 minutes, 1 second, whilst Alex Cochrane took third overall in a 5k, in a time of 22:53. Both Alexs also won their age categories!

Alex M was joined in the 10k by David Evans, who finished 85th overall in a time of 51:32, and Annabel Bolton, who took 98th place in 53:09, whilst also taking second in her category.
