Sunday 19th November saw a number of Newport & District Running Club runners take to the beautiful tracks and trails around the beautiful village of Beckbury. The undulating 10k course was predominantly off road, and took runners around the Beckbury and Badger area.

Run by Lawley Running Club, this annual race was well marked and expertly stewarded and there was a plentiful supply of cakes to buy at very reasonable prices at Race HQ, along with drinks both before and after the race. Fortunately, the forecast rain did not appear, however due to the recent wet weather, the ground was soft underfoot and there was a distinct wind in places to help or hinder runners along the way.

Finishing in a time of 42 minutes 50 seconds, Alex Millington was the first Newport runner home and 4th overall. Next home for Newport was David Brown in a time of 51:23, followed by Annabel Bolton, 7th female, in a time of 56:40, and Mandy Purves, who was 81st in 58:47. Other NDRC runners completing the course were Karen Sherriff (128th, 1:05:10), who has been focusing on triathlons in recent months, Selwyn Plant (130th, 1:05:49) and David Evans, who was 191st overall in 1:18:49.
