On Sunday, two members of Newport & District Running Club took part in the annual Bridgnorth 10k, a local road race which takes in a clockwise lap of the outskirts of the town, after completing a small lap of the castle. Starting and finishing on the high street, the race features over 150 metres of climbing, with a tough climb up Railway Street to finish off the race.

This year, despite the attempts of Storm Babet, the race was able to go ahead in cool but dry conditions (although probably wet underfoot in places!). Newport were represented by Uncle and Nephew team David Evans and Alex Cochrane, both of whom have been prolific racers of late. Alex won his age category (male 16-19), finishing 67th overall in 47 minutes, 17 seconds, whilst David took 94th place overall in a time of 49:31.
