On Sunday, Hinstock held their inaugural 10k road race, and Newport & District Running Club’s Mandy Purves made the short trip up the A41 to take part. This road 10k was held alongside a 1.5k and 5k from the Memorial Hall in Hinstock. The route took in an anti-clockwise loop around the lanes to the east of the village itself and featured around 75 metres of elevation gain.
After finishing the race, Mandy said: “Due to the 11am start, I found it very hot. The course was quite undulating with little downhill and long straights. It was very well marshalled and supported all around the route. This was an all-day event with a beer tent, cake, tombola, food stalls, bouncy castle and face painting. Overall, an enjoyable run with a nice goody bag and t-shirt. I came 2nd lady, 1st V55 and 21st out of 87.”
