Recently, Newport & District RC’s David Evans took part in the 10 mile race at “Cannock Chase the Sun”, a group of races that take place on a Wednesday evening on undulating terrain at Birches Valley on Cannock Chase. With 5k and 10k races available too, the 10 mile option used 3 laps of the course shared with the other races, as well as an extra loop to make up the distance.

On a tough course, featuring lots of elevation change as well as loose surfaces and tracks, David completed the race in 1 hour, 27 minutes, 7 seconds, which earned him 48th position out of a field of 113 runners, and also 7th out of 47 in his category.
