On Sunday, Liz and Gary Mountford of Newport & District Running Club took part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon, which is part of the Edinburgh marathon Festival. Liz was taking part in her first in-person half marathon, having previously completed a virtual half marathon in 2020, and she returned to the festival having run the 10k in 2022.
The half marathon route took runners through the historic city centre, as well as the waterfront, to make for a scenic and interesting route for runners, in what were very warm conditions. Gary finished in an overall time of 1 hour, 56 minutes, 15 seconds to take 4,033rd position overall, whilst Liz stopped the clock at 3:05:15 for 10,481st place.

Liz said afterwards: “It was my first half marathon apart from the virtual Ironbridge Half which I ran in December 2020; my time on Sunday was 14 minutes faster than Ironbridge. It was also Gary’s first time running the Edinburgh Half. The atmosphere on the day was great, there was lots of support from the marshals and the public. We both enjoyed the route through the city and along the seafront, but unfortunately there wasn’t a sea breeze so it was a bit too warm.
