On Sunday, Newport & District Running Club’s Steve Cannon made the trip south to Bristol to take part in the Bristol 10k, part of the Great Bristol Run, on a day that also includes a family fun run and a half marathon. Steve was one of over 4,700 people to take part in the 10k alone, on a day when thousands of members of the running community had descended upon the city.

Starting and finishing in the Canon’s Marsh area of the city, the 10k route took runners on an anticlockwise route through Hotwells, crossing over to Spike Island, before returning towards the city centre and taking in landmarks such as Queen’s Square and Castle Park.

Steve’s finishing time was 1 hour, 6 minutes, 41 seconds, which placed him 3,451st overall. This wasn’t the first time that Steve had taken part in the race, but the last time was pre-pandemic, in 2019.
