Last weekend, Mandy Purves was the sole member of Newport & District Running Club to take on the 10k race at the Cannock Chase Running Festival. Organised by “RunThrough Events”, the festival features races at 5k, 10k and half marathon distances, as well as a kids race.

Mandy ran a very strong race to finish in a time of 49 minutes, 22 seconds, which placed her 43rd overall, out of 304 runners in the 10k, and also secured her 1st place in her category. She was also the 6th female runner overall, and said afterwards: “It was a well-run course, and I was happy with my result. Can’t believe we drove round the pedestrian Gruffalo Trail with 4 cars in tow after taking the wrong turn to exit!”
