On Sunday, three members of Newport & District Running Club travelled across the county to take on the Shrewsbury 10k, an annual road race which starts and finishes in the town centre of the county town, taking in areas to the west and south of the town centre on a one-lap anti-clockwise course. The Quarry, Frankwell, Porthill, Kingsland and Coleham are all visited along the undulating route.
NDRC’s contingent were part of a field of almost 1,300 runners, and Alex Millington continued his recent form of finishing near the front of races, as he took 24th position overall in a time of 38 minutes 21 seconds. Simon Taylor was next for Newport, 581st overall in a time of 55:21, and Sally Morgan stopped the clock at 1:07:17 to take 1,021st place overall.
