Entries are now open for the 2023 Newport 10k! The race will take place at 11:00am on Sunday April 30th in and around Newport and Edgmond in Shropshire.

Starting and finishing at the historic Longford Hall, this scenic multi-terrain race takes in a clockwise triple-lollipop lap of the roads, fields and tracks of the surrounding countryside, and features around 100m of elevation changes.

Previous entrants will remember most of the route, as it is broadly the same as the previous (2019) running of the Newport & District 10k, with just minor alterations.

The organisers will be donating money made at the race to the x-ray service in Newport.

There will also be a fun run for children aged 3-14, the Fun Run start time is 10:00am, and entry is £3 (entry on the day only, register at Longford Hall between 9:00am and 9:30am).

Enter the 10k now at: https://www.stuweb.co.uk/event/4217

Entry is £18 for unattached runners, whilst members of affiliated clubs get a £2 discount on the entry price. Minimum age on the day for entry is 15 years.

Postcode for Longford Hall: TF10 8LR – there will be some parking on site, but do consider lift-sharing, or parking in Newport town and walking to Longford to keep the lanes clear and help the environment. Longford Hall is approximately a 1-mile walk from New Street car park (TF10 7AX – where parking is free), whilst other car parks are available.

In 2020, members of Newport & District RC made this video of the route – maybe worth a watch if you want to get an idea!

Please don’t run the entire route if you plan on checking out the course as advance preparation for the race – some of the route is on private land which is kindly opened to us on race day for a few hours only. Please stick to the public footpath sections if you plan an advance recee.
