Last weekend, three members of Newport & District Running Club took part in the Plum Pudding Plod, a 19-mile challenge event taking in some of the hilliest terrain in Shropshire. Starting and finishing at the Parish Rooms in Church Stretton, the route takes runners and walkers up over the Long Mynd and over to Church Pulverbatch (where there are hot drinks and mince pies) before returning via Betchcott Hill, the crest of the Long Mynd, Haddon Hill and Carding Mill Valley to some hot Christmas-themed food.

NDRC were represented by Jennie and Darren Waters, and Ruth Corrigan. The event was not a race as such, so there were no finishing positions or times, but all taking part were rewarded with stunning panoramic vistas and terrain that were steeped in frost and snow in sub-zero temperatures. Jennie said afterwards: “There were some stunning views on the route but it was a little chilly, especially on the way back.”
