At the weekend, nearly 400 runners braved the wind and rain to take on the Bridgnorth 10k. Starting and finishing near the town centre, the route takes in an anti-clockwise lap of the town, and features nearly 160 metres of climbing. Starting next to the castle, runners are first taken through High Town, before navigating around the north and west suburbs. A section of the Ludlow road and bypass are taken in, before runners return to the finish via Low Town and an uphill finish.

Ralph Humphries was the sole Newport & District Running Club member to take on the race, and he clocked a time of 55 minutes, 53 seconds to finish 175th overall and 10th in his age category. He said afterwards: “I was the only Newport runner, which was a bit of a shame, as it was a great course. It was a bit wet, with quite a few hills!”
